08/31/2010 - Collegiate Ice Hockey Season Just Around the Corner! - Steve Hampton
It's been a long, long, hot summer with much awaited and anticipation of the up coming 2010-11 KSU Ice Hockey season. It's almost here!!! This season, the Owls bolstered their coaching staff with two former pro ice hockey veterans in Head Coach Barry Dreger (former NHL Detriot Red Wings defenseman) and Assistant Coach Jonathan Horrell (former ECHL Gwinnett Gladiators netminder)! Together, Coach Dreger and Horrell aim to take this program to the next level!

This season your Fighting Owls take on the same tough regional and in-state rivals we all love to hate. We kick the season opener off with in-state rival UGA on 24th of September at Town Center followed by Alabama the next night! We also get to see the fiercely competitive University of Kentucky program the Owls will host October 1st and 2nd at Town Center. We follow that series up with two-game series against East Carolina University, first at Town Center on October 8th, then at the MIC on the 9th! KSU will also get to host the venerable and skilled Virginia Tech Hokies for a two-game series on October 15th and 16th at Town Center and the MIC respectively. Let's all start the boys off with our LOUD and PROUD tradition in the season opener on Friday, September 24th when your Fighting Owls host in-state rival UGA!

07/10/2010 - HD 1080p - Steve Hampton
You may start to see selected clips rendered in High Definition 1080p in addition to the 720p (formerly noted as HI-Q) and 576p (formerly noted as LO-Q). Though we've always had this capability not many users had a fast enough internet connection as well as a video card capable of rendering these clips in smooth fashion. Well, looks like a growing majority of folks are able to stream and see these on their computer now. We'll probaly offer this on shorter length clips as the files are very large and even if you have a screaming internet connection you could see lots of "buffering" messages as the file comes across the wire. So we hope you enjoy this new level of HD quality in selected clips.

05/03/2010 - Your Video Clips Stay Here - Steve Hampton
With the recent announcement of our involvement with Kennesaw State University Ice Hockey, some folks may have the impression that their clips and our coverage of AAHL and GSHL hockey will be a thing of the past... This is not true. All video clips will remain available for as long as this site lives. Obviously, our future coverage of AAHL and GSHL games will be impacted, with KSU Ice Hockey receiving the highest priority, but we will continue to cover as many games as our time allows.

03/06/2010 - Your KSU Fighting Owls Play Here! - Steve Hampton
GladiatorsForum.org is proud to announce that we will be covering most home games of your Kennesaw State University Fighting Owls for the 2010-11 season! Response to our coverage of the last seven home games this past season has been overwhelming and very popular. So we'll cover as many games as we can in the 2010-11 season and hopefully thereafter! GladiatorsForum.org - Your new OFFICIAL video home of the Kennesaw State University Fighting Owls hockey club!

02/25/2010 - Travel Softball Season is Here - Steve Hampton
Well folks, it's that time of year when the ladies of travel fastpitch softball begin playing ball for the spring/summer and fall seasons. This means you won't be seeing me at the rink as often until the late fall. We'll be able to get in a few games here and there but not with any sort of regularity. This season we've recorded 23 GSHL games, 30-some AAHL games, and 7 ACHA games! We look forward to taping a few GSHL 2010 playoff games but other than that, my family is in travel softball mode until the late fall.

We hope you all continue to enjoy this free service we offer to the local Atlanta hockey comminuty -- we sure enjoy capturing images of you in action. Until then, keep your stick on the ice and keep driving hard to the net! GO TEAM USA and may all of your hockey dreams for the season come true!

02/14/2010 - Iceforum at Town Center: Owls End Regular Season With Three Consecutive Wins! - Steve Hampton
KENNESAW, GA - Last night the Kennesaw State University Fighting Owls concluded regular season play against Wright State University (WSU) at the Iceforum at Town Center. The Olws hosted a two-game series with WSU. On Friday night the Owls won the first contest by a score of 7-4, while taking Saturday night's contest by a close score of 3-1. Thursday night the Owls turned in a decisive 12-1 victory over local rival, Georgia Tech.

This weekend concluded the hockey club's 2009-10 regular season, but the club is not finished playing yet! The Owls will compete in Wooster, OH at Alice Noble Ice Arena in the Mens American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II Regionals Saturday and Sunday February 27th and 28th. Before the trip North, the Owls will play two exhibition games against the Atlanta Knights, dates and times to be determined.

HUNTER GAHL Update:
Hunter Gahl was injured and put on the Injured Reserve (IR) the last two regular season games this weekend. The six-foot forward recieved a few stitches to the chin, is doing well, and is expected to be skating with the team soon.

02/12/2010 - Iceforum at Town Center: KSU Owls Sting Yellow Jackets 12-1 - Steve Hampton
The Kennesaw State University Fighting Owls (ACHA D2) lay waiste to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (ACHA D3) by a score of 12-1 at the Iceforum at Town Center Thursday [KNIGHT!], February 11th.

HUNTER GAHL was injured when he was apparently cross-checked to the face by an errant Yellow Jacket stick. No word on his condition at this late hour. The KSU Junior forward and Atlanta native was later seen on a stretcher being assisted by local EMTs. We'll keep Hunter in our thoughts and prayers and hope that nothing serious is the matter.

Video clips from this game and the two Wright State University will be days in getting up. Three games in as many days makes for LOTS of long hours in editing room.

The Kennesaw State University Fighting Owls continue to wrap up ACHA Division II regular season play on Friday and Saturday nights at 10:00 PM February 12th and 13th at the Iceforum Town Center as they host Wright State University.

02/07/2010 - Iceforum at Town Center: Florida Leaves Town with the Series Win - Steve Hampton
02/08/2010 - UPDATED to reflect official score sheet

KENNESAW, Ga. - Florida Gulf Coast took the second game of a two-game series by a score of 6-3 in regulation over the KSU Owls on Saturday night at the Iceforum Town Center.

FGCU got on the board quickly in the first 128 seconds of the game with back-to-back tallies by COSTI HINN. KSU would answer with a short handed goal by JERRY HOLDEN on an outlet pass from forward TUCKER GREEN deep in the KSU zone. HOLDEN poked a dribbler past Gulf Coast netminder ANDREW KOBRIN at the 6:50 mark of the second period to make it a 2-1 Gulf Coast advantage.

All of three KSU tallies came short handed and the Owls certainly spent lots of time in the box with multiple 5-on-3 disadvantages in the contest.

The Owls would answer again to tie the game up 2-2 at the 9:36 mark of the second period with more heroics from forward TUCKER GREEN. Florida, on a 4-3 power play oppourtunity was boxing up the zone when Gulf Coast forward ANTHONY FARINA efforted a close proximity wrister in the high slot area which deflected off of a defending TUCKER GREEN. GREEN beat FARINA as the puck trickled into the neutral zone where he would drive it unassisted, with increasing Owls' numbers, to the back of the net to tie the game up 2-2.

Florida would answer on the following face-off with a tally from STEVEN GUTOWITZ, fed across the slot by THOMAS PATTERSON for the go-ahead 3-2 power play goal.

At the 2:37 mark of the second period, Eagles forward DANNY VASQUEZ would find the twine to extend Florida's lead to 4-2 on a loose puck from behind the net. The Owls lit the lamp again at the 11:25 mark of the third period to cut the deficit to 4-3 when JERRY HOLDEN shovled the puck cross-crease to forward RYAN BROWN beating netminder KOBRIN to the far post with a wrister. The Eagles would slam the door shut with two insurance goals from KOVESDY and PATTERSON for the game and the series win.

The Kennesaw State University Fighting Owls continue to wrap up ACHA Division II regular season play on Thursday February 11th at the Iceforum Town Center as they host in-town rival Georgia Tech. at 10:00 PM.

02/06/2010 - Iceforum at Town Center: Gulf Coast Take First Game of Two - Steve Hampton
As promised, these two Division II rivals played for bonus hockey last night with the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles edging out the fighting Owls in overtime. The Eagles would hold a tree goal lead into the thrid period but the Owls fought back tying the game of with 28 seconds left in regulation. The game winning marker was potted by by Eagles defenseman, Ryan Kovesd, for the 4-3 Eagles victory The series continues tonight at 10:00 PM for the rematch. Rumor has it that these two teams have Division I plans on their minds and when you see them play it's hard not to imagine that either would be denied.
02/03/2010 - Pack the House - Iceforum at Town Center - Steve Hampton
This weekend, February 5th and 6th at 10:00 PM, the Kennesaw State Fighting Owls take on region rival, Florida Gulf Coast for a pair of games. The Owls will host the Eagles for a double-header where you'll see great live hockey. So come on out and support local hockey and the KSU Fighting Owls!

02/02/2010 - GF.ORG Welcomes New Viewers! - Steve Hampton
We're beginning to pick up ACHA games at Town Center and we'd like to thank Jeff and all of the great folks over at the Iceforum TC for giving us wonderful, if not exclusive, access they've given us to cover the the remaining five games of the Fighting Owls this season. We'd also like to welcome students and family members of Virginia Tech Hokies Hockey and Life University for viewing us. Enjoy the clips!

Now, this doesn't mean we've stopped caring about High School and Adult hockey leagues in Atlanta, but we will place a higher priority on the college games since they are actually being used to study game details from our camera position. There is also a higher level viewership that merits this attention as well.

01/30/2010 - ACHA Div II Hockey Tonight - Steve Hampton
Tonight at 10:00 PM the Kennesaw State Owls take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at the Ice Forum at Town Center. Last night the Owls defeated Life University by a score of 12-5. Lots of hitting and the crowd was very energetic - typical college hockey crowd and the building was packed! A big thanks to Jeff at Town Center for excellent access!

01/29/2010 - ACHA Div II Hockey This Weekend - Steve Hampton
Tonight at 10:00 PM the Kennesaw State Owls invite Life University to the Ice Forum at Town Center. Saturday night January 30th at 10:00 PM, the Owls take on Virginia Tech at Town Center. The crowd is supposed to be large so we'll be there for all of the action to bring to you at a later date.

01/26/2010 - Fastpitch Softball Around the Corner - Steve Hampton
A few of you who know me personally, know that our daughter plays travel ball (which is actually how we go into this whole video thing). The spring and summer seasons are around the corner and that means fastpitch travel softball will be starting up soon! The end of February marks the begining of competitive ball and that means we won't be able to shoot as much hockey again until the late fall. We'll be able to get in few games here and there as time allows but in the main, video production will come to a near halt compared to our current level of production. We enjoy providing this free service and look forward to continuing at the same pace next season.

01/24/2010 - New Interface Released - Steve Hampton
I hope this interface is more informative and streamlined. Really, the only things new are that I now post the game status (see below), new color scheme, and the addition of paginated data lists. All functionality reamins the same, I'm just tucking some of the data away from view to reduce clutter, most notably, the Video Gallery page.
